Md Farabi Rahman joined the Glass and Ceramic Engineering (GCE) Department at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) as an Assistant Instrument Engineer in February 2015. He received his M.Sc. in Materials Engineering and Nanotechnology from Politecnico di Milano, Italy in 2013 and his B.Sc. in Materials and Metallurgical Engineering from BUET in 2009. Before joining BUET, he worked as a research fellow in Politecnico di Milano.
Mr. Rahman is actively working for developing state-of-the-art research facilities at GCE and has hands on experience in sophisticated equipment like XRD, XRF, FESEM, UV-VIS-NIR, STA (DSC- TGA), Dilatometer, Ion beam polisher. Furthermore, he has developed expertise on several characterization software such as Proteus Analysis, NETZSCH Thermo Kinetics, Perkin Elmer UV Win Lab Data Process and Analysis, HighScore Plus for interpreting thermal, optical and structural properties of materials. Mr. Rahman is also a member of Bureau of Research, Testing and Consultation (BRTC) of GCE, BUET.
Mr. Rahman’s research interests lie on electrochemistry, energy materials, nanostructured materials, optoelectronics and advanced materials, organic functional materials. Currently he is working on developing nanostructured photocatalyst employing various synthesis routes.
